Ο Βυζαντινός χορός ”ΠΕΤΡΟΣ Ο ΠΕΛΟΠΟΝΝΗΣΙΟΣ”  ιδρύθηκε τον Ιανουάριο  του 2019 από τον Πρωτοψάλτη μας κο Δημήτριο Σακαλή Πρωτοψάλτη και χοράρχη τότε του Μητροπολιτικού Ναού Αγίων Κων νου κ΄ Ελένης Πειραιώς.

The members who make up the Byzantine dance are students of the teacher as well Lead Cantors and Lampardarios in Metropolis of Patras.

The purpose of the Byzantine dance is to preserve and defend the Divine Art of Damascene as well as to pass it on to the younger ones.

Σκοπός που προϋποθέτει ψαλτικό ύφος  λιτό, απέρριτο και μεγαλοπρεπές , γεγονός που  απαιτεί επιμονή, υπομονή, σκληρή και κοπιώδη  εργασία. Και όπως έλεγε ο Πρωτοψάλτης της Μ.τ.Χ.Εκκλησίας  και μελοποιός ο Μανουήλ Χρυσάφης (ο νέος)  ο οποίος ήκμασε γύρω στο 1660:

The passion and effort of the members of the Byzantine dance for simple and serious chanting is visible and praised by every music-loving listener. The purpose is not to receive applause, but to worship and pray. Byzantine Music is the means by which the person praying can get closer to the creator. This requires seriousness, clear articulation, correct accentuation of words and traditional positions and lines from the choristers.
